Real Impact
At MRE, we work at the centre of Melbourne’s housing market. We see the opportunities it creates, and the gaps it leaves behind. Real Impact reflects a deliberate extension of that perspective. It’s about applying our experience in property in a way that contributes beyond transactions – through initiatives and partnerships that support long-term housing outcomes.
Why we partner with WPI
MRE is proud to partner with Women’s Property Initiatives (WPI), a leading organisation providing permanent, affordable housing for women and children at risk of homelessness.
WPI focuses on long-term housing solutions. Their model is simple and effective: provide safe, stable homes that allow women and families to regain security, maintain independence, and rebuild their lives over time.
Access to appropriate and secure housing remains a significant challenge. Despite its importance, it is not being adequately met by either the public or private sectors, and affordability continues to decline.
Housing stress and homelessness are not experienced equally. Women are disproportionately affected, driven by structural financial inequality that accumulates over a lifetime. Lower average earnings, greater likelihood of part-time work, and extended periods out of the workforce due to caregiving responsibilities all contribute to reduced access to secure housing.
For many women, the transition into housing insecurity can be sudden – triggered by events such as relationship breakdown, loss of income, the death of a partner, or broader economic disruption.
Through our partnership with WPI, MRE supports the delivery and management of housing that provides long-term stability for women and children. It is a practical contribution, grounded in what we do, and focused on outcomes that endure.
