1. Clean sweep! Leave the property as you found it.
A deep clean of the entire property is essential in ensuring you get your bond back quickly. This includes cleaning all surfaces, floors, walls, appliances, carpets, bathrooms and more. Pay extra attention to the kitchen and ensure that all the appliances are cleaned and in good condition. If you leave the property as clean as it was when you moved in, your rental provider is more likely to return your bond quickly.

If your agency has recommended a particular cleaner or cleaning service, it’s a good idea to use them. This ensures that the property is cleaned to the standard expected by your Portfolio Manager, and reduces the risk of any disputes over the cleanliness of the property.
3. Keys to success: return all keys, access cards and more.
Make sure you return all sets of keys provided that were provided to you at the beginning of the lease. This includes house keys, mailbox keys, fobs and any other keys or access cards you were given. If you happen to have lost any keys throughout your tenancy, inform your Portfolio Manager now or before you vacate so they can arrange to have them replaced.

4. Clear out all bins, sheds and/or storage cages.
If you have a shed, storage cage, or bins with the property, make sure you empty and clean them before you move out. Don’t leave anything behind that could be considered rubbish or unwanted items.

It’s important to leave the power on until the property has been inspected by your portfolio manager. This allows us to check that all appliances and fixtures are working correctly and that there are no electrical faults. 6. Be proactive. Report any problems to your Portfolio Manager, before you move out.
To avoid delays in getting your bond back, report any issues like leaks, broken appliances, stains, or picture hook holes to your portfolio manager as soon as possible. If you don’t know how to fix them, leave it to an expert, and your Portfolio Manager can arrange it now or after you vacate. Discussing issues when giving notice gives your Portfolio Manager a chance to organise a prompt resolution, so don’t wait until you move out.
