Student apartments fall in value despite 8 per cent rental yields

Lenders are giving investors in student digs a caning despite top-yielding rental returns and strong growth in overseas student numbers.
Student apartments clustered around major universities and colleges are generating 8 per cent, or twice the return of most short-term savings products, say agents specialising in student property.
